Getting bigger...hopefully!

After Mommy and Daddy took Abram to the ER Tuesday night because he was not nursing well and spitting everything back up, he has been doing well. Abram seems to be nursing much better and hasn't spit up in over 24 hours (knock on wood). We go to the doctor tommorrow to see if he has gained any more weight (hopefully he has) and to see if they can put him on some reflux medication. We will see!!!!

Abram loves playing with Mommy after he nurses. He makes the best faces. Here you can see some "Casey" faces!

New Adventures!

Mommy and Daddy think that Abram may have some reflux, and the doctor said to try giving him a pacifier between feedings to help him cope with the pain. So we tried it...this is the smallest pacifier we have! Abram is still nursing well (Mommy is relieved) and doesn't really like the pacifier (Mommy is even happier!), but it does help in the middle of the night when he is inconsolable and Mommy's milk just hurts his tummy more.

We had another FANTASTIC night last night! Abram was so happy this morning (as was Mommy and Daddy)!

This morning Abram was wide awake after his feeding, so Mommy decided it was time for some tummy time. Abram loved it!

Great Night!

Abram has been having some rough nights, and Mommy thinks that it is because his tummy is hurting him. So Wednesday night, Mommy and Daddy tried a few new tricks. Abram nursed very well every 3 hours and slept soundly in between! Mommy and Daddy were SO glad to finally get some sleep!

Best Looks!

Abram gives the best looks while you are holding him. Mommy and Daddy tried to catch them with the camera...still not as good as the real thing!!!

First Doctor's Visit

Abram made his first doctor's visit on Tuesday. He did SO well! He gained 3 oz in 4days and his Bilirubin level is coming down!!! Yay!!! Mommy is so happy!

Homecoming

Casey, Abram, and Jill came home from the hospital Friday afternoon around 2:00 pm. Casey and Jill are enjoying all of the special moments that go along with having their baby at home with them for the first time!

Welcome to the World!!!

In God's ever-so-perfect timing, Abram John Fruge entered the world on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 3:36 pm. He weighed in at 5 lbs, 10 oz and 19 inches long...perfect in every way. Casey and I are completely in love with him!

Being such an obedient child, Abram waited until Wednesday to make his appearance (the day after I took my Step 2) and arrived before Thursday (the day Jill was scheduled to be induced, but praying that she wouldn't have to be). It was exactly a year to the day since I had my D & C after losing our first baby. So God made a day that had previously been the medical endpoint to our much awaited-for first pregnancy (but not anywhere near the emotional endpoint) and transformed it into the medical beginning of our first-born child's earthly life! Oh, how I cried that night (and many other nights) wondering if my arms would ever be able to hold a baby of my own. This year, I cried as I reflected on the amazing look in Abram's face as he looked back at me while he nursed. Yes, indeed, God's timing is perfect.

Casey and I are enjoying all of the wonderful (albeit, challenging and daunting) experiences of parenthood. We thank you for your continued prayers and support, as look forward to the many blessings God has in store for us!
